Fourth grade is a very exciting year. Students begin an in depth focus on their home state in Social Studies . They examine novels while learning how to write and respond to long and short answer essays. In Math they arrive ready to use their multiplication facts in double digit multiplication and division. In writing and english they develop their skills to communicate using proper paragraph form and correct grammar.
Our literature and social studies is focused around California history. Our field trips also help us investigate California history. We read four novels that focus on the Indians in California, Pioneers going West to California, The Gold Rush and Japanese life in California. In addition to the core subjects of Literature, English, Math , Social Studies, Religion, Spelling, Writing, and technology there many other classes that fourth grade's experience. These subjects are taught by other teachers who come into the class room. There is spanish, science, music, band and art.
