Traffic Duty at the School Parking Lot
-
ALL families are expected to take responsibility for supervising the school parking lot.
-
Families need to sign up for four shifts per child; this includes A.M. traffic duty and P.M. traffic duty. Families with three or more children in the school receive a total of one discount.
-
Each class is assigned to a month for traffic duty and parents sign up to supervise on specific dates for that month. Should your child’s class monthly calendar be filled by the time you sign up, you are still required to fulfill your obligation for traffic duty by signing up in another month.
-
It is the responsibility of the family to find a substitute or trade with another family if unable to fulfill a shift.
-
The Parents Traffic Duty Coordinator will ensure that families fulfill their obligation.
-
Families are encouraged to get involved in our children’s safety however a Buy-out option is available for families who are unable to fulfill the requirements. The fee is $30 per shift and is payable to St. Theresa Parents Club in the beginning of the school year.
-
A family is assessed a penalty fee of $35 per shift for any missed shift and is payable to St. Theresa Parents Club. A make-up for a missed shift is not allowable.
Schedule of Shifts
-
7:45 am to 8:15 am - Morning shift/drop off
-
12:00 pm to 12:30 pm - Minimum Day with dismissal at 12:10 pm
-
2:05 pm to 2:35 pm - Wednesday dismissal at 2:15 pm
-
3:05 pm to 3:35 pm – Afternoon dismissal at 3:15 pm
-
Please do not talk on your cell phones while driving or working in the St. Theresa Parking Lot.
-
Slow down – please remember to slow down while in the parking lot and driving along Mandalay.
-
Please do not bring other children with you during your parking lot shift. We need all of your attention on keeping our kids safe.
-
Do not forget to initial the Traffic Duty binder at the Red Counter (school front desk) on the day of your shift. The Traffic Duty binder serves as the official record of fulfilling your duty and is the basis for assessing “no show” fees.
-
If your schedule changes, it is your responsibility to find a replacement or trade with another family. Please contact the Parents Traffic Duty Coordinator should there be any problems finding a replacement.
-
AM parents need to be at their station no later than 7:45 and stay until 8:15. Please try to sign in, yourself, BEFORE your shift begins. The AM stations are:
-
Middle Crosswalk
-
Crosswalk to the left of Drop-Off Lane and
-
Top of Drop Off Lane on the left (across from handicap parking).
-
-
PM parents need to arrive at their station no later than 3:05 (or 2:05) and stay until 3:35 (or 2:35) . Again please try to sign in, yourself, BEFORE your shift begins. For 12:10 dismissals, please be at your station from 12:00 until 12:30. The PM stations are:
-
Middle Crosswalk
-
Crosswalk to the left of Drop-Off Lane
-
Clarewood Gate
-
-
When you arrive for your shift, please initial your shift in the Traffic Binder BEFORE your shift begins. The Traffic Binder is located at the Red Counter (school front desk). If signing in before your shift is not possible, please sign in afterwards or any time before the end of the month. The Traffic Binder serves as the only record that you filled your shift: without your signature we can only assume you missed your shift.
-
If your schedule changes and you cannot fulfill your obligation, your FIRST responsibility is to find a replacement to trade with you. If this is not possible, please contact the Traffic Duty coordinator.
-
The Traffic Duty Binder, located at the Red Counter will be the official record used for billing. Billing is completed at the end of the month and if you, or your replacement, have not initialed your shift you will be invoiced as we have no other way of knowing that the shift was manned. No Exceptions.
-
The parking coordinator for your grade will, as a courtesy, will send home the monthly schedule of your shifts as a reminder, either a hard copy in the Wednesday Envelope or through email. However, this is a courtesy and the ultimate responsibility for filling your shift rests with the parent.
-
As the school year progresses, and there are fewer slots left to make up, the likelihood of being billed $35.00 for a missed slot increases. Please be aware that this may happen if you forget to fulfill your assigned parking lot obligation in the latter part of the school year.

Record Keeping & Volunteer Hours
Rules to Live By
Be Careful @ Pick up & Drop Off.
All drivers are encouraged to enter via Clarewood entrance whenever possible. If you can’t or don’t want to drop off, please walk by the field fence or between car isles instead of in the traffic lanes to get across the cross walk or when returning to your cars, especially when the lot is full.
Be a good role model.
Be respectful and courteous. Supervising the parking lot is a collaborative job for the safety of us all and the 6th, 7th and 8th graders work this job more often than we do.
Please park in the outlined parking places.
Often many of us have gotten used to slipping into an unmarked space (with the JUST FOR A MINUTE or I'M LATE excuse) IT'S NOT OK and it is not providing our kids with a good example.
This is particularly true of the area in front of the STEP stairs to the Hall and at the end of the parking isles. These are not safe places to park.
The Clarewood Gate Closes at 9:15 am and 3:25 pm on school days.
